Description

(1888 Nuremberg - 1982 Gerlingen) Women Bathing at Lake Ammersee. An early, cheerful summer work by Schelkopf, who studied from 1907 to 1914 at the Stuttgart Academy under the impressionists Christian Landenberger and Robert Poetzelberger. From 1913 onward, he participated in numerous exhibitions. In his further artistic development, he was initially influenced by the Expressionists and Adolf Hölzel, and from 1935, his work was shaped by French modernist art, Henri Matisse, and Fauvists such as Raoul Dufy. Oil on canvas, restored; signed and dated 1914. 52 cm x 39.5 cm. Framed.
