(1905 Frankfurt – 1944 Smolensk) "Couple in Green." An original rare ornamental-figurative sheet by Schele, who is considered one of the artists of the lost generation. He studied from 1922 at the Frankfurt and Offenbach Schools of Applied Arts under Albert Windisch and Rudolf Koch, then transferred to the Städel School in Frankfurt in 1924 to study French painting, representing Expressionism. In 1927, he moved to Berlin, where he achieved his first successes at exhibitions and discovered abstraction in the 1930s. However, in 1937 some of Schele’s works were declared "degenerate," and in 1939 he was given a general ban on exhibitions. Many of his works were destroyed in 1943 along with his studio due to the consequences of the war. Ink drawing in sepia / paper. Signed and dated (19)39 and titled in the center. Estate marking with number Z54 on the reverse. Approximately 28 cm x 20 cm (material cutout). Wrapped. Brown ink on paper. Signed, dated (19)39, and titled.
