Born in 1938 in the city of Velbert, Rhineland. Lived in Berlin and Gelting. The artist presents "Garden with Mallows, Sunflowers, and Gladioli" as an expressive, flatly composed, and brightly colored still life, which is among the most famous works of his oeuvre. Füssmann, who studied from 1957 to 1966 at the Folkwang School in Essen and the Berlin University of the Arts, was awarded the "Villa Romana" prize in 1972 and exhibited his works at the New National Gallery in Berlin. This made him known to a wider audience of art lovers. From 1974 to 2005, he worked as a lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts. After numerous solo exhibitions, his work was presented in an extensive retrospective on the occasion of his 70th and 80th birthdays, including exhibitions at the Schleswig-Holstein State Museum of Art and Cultural History at Gottorf Castle and the Barberini Museum in Potsdam. The central motifs of his paintings, watercolors, and graphics, in addition to the landscapes of Schleswig-Holstein, are especially the flowers of spring and summer, as well as scenes from his garden in Gelting, often characterized by intense coloration. Pastel on laid paper. Signed and dated 1995. Size 75 cm x 76.2 cm. Frame included. This work belongs to the works presented on the website of Professor Dr. Klaus Fußmann. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
