Description

Bronze, gilded and partially enameled. A rectangular plaque supported by four short twisted legs. The mirror and rising flag are richly decorated with embossed leaves, floral vines, and twisted elements. Cartouche-like recesses with a back of glazed guilloché in the shape of waves and enameled in dark red. The edge is perforated, finished, and adorned with relief flowers. Height: 4.5 cm. Dimensions: 21.5 cm x 14 cm. Provenance: Royal House of Hanover, auction "The Royal House of Hanover / Das Königshaus von Hannover," Sotheby's, Marienburg Castle, October 5-15, 2005, additional lot: Lot 5367A; subsequently in a private collection in Brandenburg.
