

Bronze, gilded and partially enameled. Fully sculptural music box in the shape of a grand piano standing on three conical legs with a small, round stool. The lid of the piano and the keyboard instrument open on hinges. Inside there is a small compartment lined with red velvet. The walls are decorated with stylized relief columns alternating with tall oval medallions and floral calyx ornaments. The lid, keyboard, and stool are adorned with delicate polychrome enamel painting, partially depicting a pastoral scene with a shepherd couple, musicians, and two putti. Signed "G (?) B" on the underside. Height: 7.3 cm. Dimensions: 10 cm x 13 cm. Stool height: 3.2 cm. Provenance: R. Zohar, New York, 2007; subsequently in a private collection in Brandenburg.
