Description

In an original, gilded leather-covered wooden case. Silver. Elongated oval shape, convex spoon transitioning into a flat, widening handle. The handle and lower part of the spoon are adorned with rococo-style elements featuring curved lines. The interior of the case is lined with pink silk. Hallmark, assay mark, indicator, preceding letter "C", master Johann Nikolaus Wollenberg (master since 1759). Weight approx. 225 g. Spoon length 20.5 cm. Case height 4.5 cm. Dimensions 21.3 cm x 12.5 cm. See Catalog of the Germanic National Museum, Volume I, Part 1, MZ 991, BZ 41, VB 06c. Another spoon by the master is located, among other places, in the Historical Museum in Basel; see also Volume I, Part 2, illustrations 726 and 706 (case). A rare set of six Nuremberg silver rococo spoons by master Johann Nikolaus Wollenberg (master since 1759) in an original leather wooden case. Hallmark, assay, and maker's mark, date letter "C". Nuremberg, 1775-1779.
