Porcelain tray
Description

Four-lobed curved rococo form with carved handles. Relief decoration with shells and foliage. On the flat mirror, there is a wide profile with trees, reflecting the harbor of Venice. Rococo couples and figural characters stand in front of merchant ships and the majestic architecture of a palazzo. Based on copper engravings by Melchior Küsel after designs by J.W. Baur. The edge is decorated with branches of an Indian flower. Polychrome painting with rich gold details. Previously attributed to Andreas Schiefer. Sword on a non-enameled base. Dimensions: 29 cm x 25 cm. Porcelain tray with a masterfully painted view of Venice after M. Küsel. Mark of crossed swords. Meissen. Circa 1735–1739.
