Large figure of a male pagoda-rocker made of porcelain.
Description

A gray-bearded, portly Chinese man sits cross-legged, wearing a yellow robe adorned with Indian flowers, a gilded lace collar, a belt with gemstones, and plum-purple shoes. His hands and head are movable, but his tongue remains still. Polychrome painting is embellished with gold details (added later). Sword mark. Height: 32 cm. The so-called "nodding pagodas" can be traced back to designs from 1762, when Frederick II of Prussia commissioned "10 pagodas with nodding heads" (five female and five male) for the Chinese House in Sanssouci.
