Description

A rectangular, elevated stone pedestal. Seated on a rearing horse, looking resolutely ahead, stands Napoleon Bonaparte in uniform with a bicorne and a billowing red cloak, his right hand raised in an authoritative gesture, during his crossing of the Alps at the Great St. Bernard Pass, according to the famous painting created around 1800/01 by the French historical artist Jacques-Louis David (1748–1825). Polychrome painting with golden accessories. Possibly made by Otto Pörzel, 1906. At the base, a French inscription. Monogram "S.M." in black glaze. Former "Hollósi" mark. Height 65 cm.
