Description

A rectangular, raised stone pedestal. Seated on a rearing horse, gazing resolutely, stands Napoleon Bonaparte in uniform with a bicorne and a flowing red cloak, his right hand raised in a commanding gesture, during his journey across the Alps at the Great St. Bernard Pass, based on the famous painting created around 1800/01 by French historical painter Jacques-Louis David (1748-1825). Polychrome painting with gold accessories. Possibly executed by Otto Pörzell, 1906. At the base, a French inscription. Monogram "S.M." in black glaze. Former marking "Hollosi". Height 65 cm.
