The central part features the denomination – the numeral 5. Below the numeral is the word RUBLES. Below that is a decorative divider in the form of two oppositely directed curved lines with a diamond-shaped point between them. Below the divider is the year of issue 1918. Above the denomination numeral is a two-line inscription: RAZMENNYI ZNAK (Exchange Token). On the sides of the central image, left and right, are two compositions of four laurel branches. The rim is decorated with dots.
Obverse
The central part features the emblem of Russia from 1917 – a double-headed eagle without crowns, sceptre, or orb in its talons. Below the eagle's tail are the letters 'J.S.', the initials of the engraver Iosif (Joseph) Zadler. Below the initials are three stylized six-pointed stars. Around the eagle, along the rim, is the text: ARMAVIRSKOE OTD. GOSUDARSTVENNOGO BANKA (Armavir Branch of the State Bank). The rim is decorated with dots.
