    In the central part, a counterstamp from the period 1809-1837, with four partially preserved four-petal flowers to its right and left. All this is enclosed within a circle of dots. To the right, bottom, and left is an inscription in Portuguese: 'AFRICA. PORTUGUEZA', translating to 'Portuguese Africa'. At the top along the rim is the mint year 1770, separated from the inscription by two four-petal flowers with dots on the sides. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.

    In the central part, the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Portugal. To the right, bottom, and left along the edge is a Latin text: 'IOSEPHUS.I.D.G.REX.P.ET.D.GUIN', the title of King Joseph I the Reformer of Portugal. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
