In the central part, within a circle of dots, a stylized image of an unfurled scroll with the date in Ukrainian: «28 червня 1996» - June 28, 1996. Above the scroll is a decorative vignette. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the inscription in Ukrainian: «ПЕРША РІЧНИЦЯ КОНСТИТУЦІЇ УКРАЇНИ», which translates to 'First Anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine'.

In the central part, within a circle of dots, is the Coat of Arms of Ukraine framed by two branches with leaves and berries. Above the coat of arms is the year of minting, 1997. Below the coat of arms is a two-line semicircular inscription: «2 гривні» - 2 Hryvnias. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, separated on each side by a decorative vignette, is the country name in Ukrainian: «УКРАЇНА».
