In the central part, there is an antique view of the city of Odesa and its harbor with a single-masted sailing vessel. In the central part of the harbor is the name of the city in Ukrainian: «ODESA»; to the left of the name is the year of foundation, 1794, and the city's coat of arms.
Obverse
In the central part, a collage of landmarks of Odesa: the Opera House, the Potemkin Stairs, and the monument to the Duke de Richelieu. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions: on the left, the year of mintage 2014 and the mint mark of the Kyiv Mint; on the left, top, and right, separated by the coat of arms of Ukraine, an inscription in Ukrainian: «NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE»; at the bottom, along the edge, a two-line inscription: «5 HRYVEN» - 5 Hryvnias.
