Two laurel branches are depicted along the left and right arcs of the coin's edge, crossing at the bottom and tied with a bow. In the central part, a three-line inscription in Arabic: "مدة محمد الصادق بتونس" - "MUHAMMAD AL-SADIQ KING OF TUNISIA". Below it is the mint year: "١٢٨٩" - 1289 AH (Hijri year) or 1872 AD (Gregorian).

In the central part, a flower is depicted, inside of which is the number 1/2 in Indic-Arabic numerals. To the left and right along the rim are two laurel branches, which cross at the bottom and are tied with a bow.
