In the central part, within a smaller diameter semicircle, a top-down view of the university building in Vilnius. To its right, the mint year 2004 is placed vertically. In the upper and right parts of the coin, along the rim, an inscription in Lithuanian: «VILNIAUS UNIVERSITETAS», which translates to «Vilnius University». Along the arc of the lower edge, the number: «425» - the age of the university.

In the central part, within a circle of smaller diameter formed by an ornamental chain, the coat of arms of the Republic of Lithuania. In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, the country name «LIETUVA» in Lithuanian. In the lower part, along the arc of the coin's edge, an inscription in Lithuanian: «1 LITAS» - 1 Litas.
