In the central part, a three-line inscription in Arabic: "ضرب في تونس" - "MADE IN TUNISIA", below it - the minting year: "۱٢٦٥" - 1265 AH (Islamic calendar) or 1849 AD (Gregorian). Along the left and right arcs of the coin's edge are two olive branches, which cross at the bottom and are tied with a bow.
Obverse
Left and right along the rim are two laurel branches, which cross at the bottom and are tied with a bow. In the central part, a three-line inscription in Arabic: "السلطان عبد المجيد خان" - "KHAN-SULTAN ABDUL-MEDJID".
