In the central part is a breadfruit tree; at the base of the trunk, two alpacas are depicted lying facing each other. Above the crown, nine five-pointed stars are arranged in a semicircle. Along the edge of the coin, text reads from left to right: the country name in Spanish 'REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA' (Republic of Bolivia), at the bottom the year of minting '1858', to the left of which are the Latin letters 'PTS' and the inscription '1/2', to the right 'FI' - the engraver's mark, all framed by dots. The rim is decorated with decorative denticles.
Obverse
In the center is a left-facing portrait of Bolivia's first president, Simón Bolívar, wearing a laurel wreath on his head. At the truncation is the person's name 'Bolivar'. To the left and right along the edge is text in Spanish: 'LIBRE POR LA CONSTITUCION.' (Free by the Constitution). The rim of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
