    In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the Spanish text: 'BOGOTA' - indicating the Bogotá mint. In the central part, an inscription in Spanish: 'UN REAL' - one real, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves intertwined with ribbons. On both sides are the symbols of the god of trade, Apollo: a winged staff entwined by two snakes. Along the lower edge arc is the silver fineness indication: 'LEI 0,900'. The rim is decorated with decorative elements in the form of denticles.
  • Obverse
    To the right, top, and left is the Spanish inscription: 'NUEVA GRANADA', meaning 'New Granada'. In the central part is a stylized depiction of an opened pomegranate fruit on a branch. On either side, crossing at the top, are cornucopias. In the lower part, along the edge arc, is the date 1851, separated from the inscription by images of flower tops. The rim is decorated with a decorative element in the form of denticles.
