In the central part, the numeral 1 and a two-line inscription: 'EURO CENT' - 1 euro cent. To the left and below, an image of the Earth globe, with Europe highlighted on it, from which six slanted rays extend upwards and downwards. At the ends of these rays, along the rim, are twelve five-pointed stars. To the right of the Earth is the monogram 'LL' - the mark of engraver Luc Luycx.
Obverse
In the central part, the Montale Tower is depicted. To its left is the letter 'R' - the mintmark of the Rome Mint and the year of issue 2004 in a semicircle. To the right of the castle is the mark 'Ch' - the monogram of designer M. Frantisek Chochola, and to the right in a semicircle is the country name in Italian: 'SAN MARINO'. In the lower part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the inscription: 'ELF INC.' - the monogram of designer Ettore Lorenzo Frapiccini. Along the edge of the coin are twelve five-pointed stars.
