In the central part, the inscription in three lines: '50 EURO CENT'. To the left of the inscription is the outline of Europe, from which six vertical rays extend upwards and downwards. Along the arc of the left edge of the coin, intersecting these rays, are twelve five-pointed stars. To the right of the inscription is the monogram 'LL' - the mark of the engraver Luc Luycx.
Obverse
In the central part, within a smaller diameter circle, is an image of the Castle on Mount Titano. Above it is the letter 'R' - the mint mark of the Rome Mint. To the right of the castle is the mark 'Ch' - the monogram of the designer M. Frantisek Chochola. To the left, above, and to the right, arranged in a semicircle, are the year of issue 2008 and the country name in Italian: 'SAN MARINO'. In the lower part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the inscription: 'ELF INC.' - the monogram of the designer Ettore Lorenzo Frapiccini. Twelve five-pointed stars are placed along the coin's edge.
