    In the central part, an inscription in Spanish: 'OCHO REALES' - eight reales, surrounded by a laurel wreath, bound with six loops of ribbon. In the upper part, along the edge arc, text in Spanish: 'BOGOTA' - indicating the Bogotá mint. Along the lower edge arc, the silver fineness is indicated: 'LEI 0,900'. The inscriptions are separated by images of a flower resembling a cornflower. The rim is decorated with decorative elements in the form of dentils.

    To the right, top, and left is an inscription in Spanish: 'REPUBLICA DE LA NUEVA GRANADA', which translates to 'Republic of New Granada'. In the central part is the shield of the Colombian coat of arms, entwined with a laurel wreath. In the lower part, along the edge arc, is the date 1847, separated from the inscription by dots. The rim is decorated with a decorative element in the form of dentils.
