In the central part, within a smaller circle, two sparrows are depicted facing each other, perched on a branch of a thorny plant; below the branch is the monogram 'KG' – the signature of engraver George Edward Kruger-Gray. Around the edge of the coin, the text reads: on the right and left, the country name in Afrikaans and English: 'SUID-AFRIKA. SOUTH AFRICA'; at the top, separated by triangles, the mint year 1932; at the bottom, separated by two decorative elements consisting of four-rayed stars and four dots: '1/4 D.' – 1/4 penny. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
