    In the central part on the right are large numerals 50, below them a two-line inscription in English 'EURO / CENT'. To the right of the numerals is the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx 'LL'. In the central part on the left are the outlines of the eurozone countries. From them, six vertical parallel lines extend upwards and downwards, ending in 12 stars.

    Near the rim on the right and left are 6 stars each, symbolizing the countries of the European Union. At the top is the name of the state in French 'MONACO'. Below is the year of mintage 2001. To the left of the date is the mintmark of the Paris Mint — a cornucopia. To the right is the personal mark of mint master Gérard Buquoy — a horseshoe. In the central part is an image of a mounted knight facing right with a raised sword and a shield divided lozenge-wise according to the coat of arms of the Grimaldi family, the ruling dynasty of Monaco.
