In the central part is a lion in front of a sun - the coat of arms of Iran. Below is the Persian text: "نیم پهلوی" - "HALF PAHLAVI". Above is a crown. Along the left edge of the coin is an olive branch, on the right an oak branch, which cross at the bottom and are tied with a bow. The edges of the rim are decorated with raised denticles.
Obverse
In the central part is the left-facing profile of Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is his name in Persian: "محمّدرضا شاه پهلوى شاهنشاه ايران". Below is the year: "۱۳۳۲" - 1332 in the Iranian calendar or 1953 in the Gregorian calendar. The edges of the rim are decorated with raised denticles.
