    In the upper part, along the edge arc of the coin, is text in Spanish: «VALE OCHO REALES» - translated as «value eight reales». Along the lower edge arc is the inscription in Spanish: «BOGOTA» - indicating the Bogotá mint. To the left and right of it are the letters «R.» and «S.», separated from the inscription by six-pointed stars. In the central part, surrounded by a laurel wreath, is a three-line inscription: «LEI DINEROS», which can be translated as: «contains 8 parts». The border is decorated with decorative elements in the form of denticles.

    To the right, top, and left is an inscription in Spanish: «REPUBLICA DE LA NUEVA GRANADA», translated as: «Republic of New Granada». In the central part is a ribbon with an inscription in Spanish: «LIBERTAD I ORDEN», translated as: «Liberty and Order». It divides the field into two parts. Above it is a dove holding the ribbon in its beak. Below it is a cornucopia. In the lower part, along the edge arc of the coin, is the date 1839, separated from the inscription by dots. The border is decorated with a decorative element in the form of denticles.
