Centered within a circle is a flower native to the Alps – the Alpine gentian. Along the inner circle, from left, top to right, is the inscription in German 'EIN EURO CENT' (One Euro Cent). Below is a stylized Austrian flag, above it the mint year '2002', offset to the right from the center. Along the outer rim are twelve five-pointed stars.
