Reverse
The central part features a lion with a sword in its paw against a rising sun - the coat of arms of Iran. Above is a crown. Along the left edge of the coin is an olive branch, on the right is an oak branch. The edges of the rim are decorated with raised denticles.
Obverse
The central part contains a three-line inscription in Persian: "السلطان مظفرالدین شاه قاجارطهران", which translates as: "SULTAN MUZAFFAR AL-DIN SHAH QAJAR TEHRAN". On the left side, along the edge of the coin, is an olive branch, on the right is an oak branch. Below is the inscription 1/4 kran in Persian: "قران‎ ۴.۱".
