Budapest subway or Hungarian "Földalai" - the first in Europe, older than only the London Underground, built in 1863 and the first in the world with trains on electric traction.
The construction of the underground railway began in 1894 by two Budapest transport companies: "Budapesi Villamos Városi Vasú" (BVVV) and "Budapesi Közúi Vaspálya Társasággal" (BKVT), led by director Mor Balazs according to the project of the German company Siemes & Halske, in the city center. At the same time, up to 20,000 people were employed daily in the construction of the metro. The line was solemnly opened on May 3, 1896, as planned, for the celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of the acquisition of the homeland. The opening of the first underground metro in the world with electric traction was such a significant event that Emperor Franz Joseph I visited the capital of Hungary and participated in the celebrations on Andrassy Avenue. And his visit, in turn, was such an important event that the metro was called "Franz Joseph's Electric Underground Railway" for some time. Condition: excellent preservation, without cracks, chips, or damage. Age 1940, Hered brand, size in cm: width 11.5 * height 36, material porcelain.
