The organizers of the Aichi Triennale have announced the title and theme for the sixth edition of the event, scheduled to take place September 13–November 30, 2025. Titled “A Time Between Ashes and Roses,” the Triennale will explore “fluctuating states and connections that exist between ecological environments, human activity, and the narratives and theories that unite them.” This edition of the event takes its name from lines written by the modernist poet Adonis immediately after the Six-Day War of 1967, which read, “How can withered trees blossom?/ A time between ashes and roses is coming/ When everything shall be extinguished/ When everything shall begin again.” The sixth iteration will be held at the Aichi Arts Center in Nagoya and will additionally feature special collaborations with Seto City and Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum, showcasing Japanese craft alongside international and contemporary ceramics. Satellite venues include the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art; as well, pop-up exhibitions will take place throughout the region during the Triennale’s run.RelatedDMITRY RYBOLOVLEV LOSES FRAUD CASE AGAINST SOTHEBY’SLAURIE ANDERSON WITHDRAWS FROM GERMAN UNIVERSITY PROFESSORSHIP AFTER PRO-PALESTINE LETTER RESURFACES “Our hope for the 2025 Aichi Triennale is to create spaces for dialogue around our shared planet that move with urgency and a commitment to new horizons of ecological and interpersonal relation,” said Hoor Al Qasimi, artistic director of the sixth iteration, in a statement.
