Description

Anti-religious poster "For peasants, faith is a delusion; for priests, profit in the pocket" / text by S.M. Gorodetsky, artist A.S. Sokolov. Moscow: Agit-point "Atheist"; Typo-zincography "Izvestia of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR and the All-Russian Central Executive Committee"; Moscow Gublit No. 29048, [1920s] 61.9×46.8 cm. In good condition, with traces of folds, creases, and tears. On the reverse side, there are owner's pencil marks.

Sergei Mitrofanovich Gorodetsky (1884-1967) was a Russian poet, playwright, publicist, and artist. In the 1920s, Gorodetsky participated in the creation of anti-religious posters, writing poetic texts for them: "For peasants, faith is a delusion; for priests, profit in the pocket," "From a little robber into a little saint," "On renewed icons and how the Correctional House renews restless priests," and others.
