(1751 Heilbronn – 1818 Vienna), attributed; Miniature portrait of Princess Elisabeth Wilhelmine Luise of Württemberg, Archduchess of Austria (1767–1790). Round, half-length portrait, facing left. She is dressed in a blue gown with an open lace trim. Surrounding the image are a column and a closed curtain, with a light brown background. High-quality tempera. On the reverse side, there is an inscription: "Archduchess Elisabeth, born Princess of Württemberg" and the number "No. 22". Brass frame. Diameter 6.7 cm. Heinrich Friedrich Füger arrived at the imperial court in Vienna in 1774. There, he created a large number of portraits of nobility and figures from politics and society. In 1795, he became director of the Academy of Fine Arts, and in 1806 he was appointed director of the Imperial Picture Gallery. His works can be found, among other places, in the Albertina in Vienna and in the National Gallery in Berlin. The portrait of the Archduchess corresponds to Füger’s technique in the depiction of materiality and hair with silver highlights and bears a resemblance to the painting by J.B. Lampi from 1784 in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. See Robert Keil, WV No. 162 and following; Schidlof, vol. I, p. 273 and following. Viennese miniature portrait of Archduchess Elisabeth Wilhelmine of Austria, attributed to Heinrich Friedrich Füger (1751–1818). With title and number indicated on the reverse. In frame.
