An impressionistically depicted evening landscape of the Baltic coast near the resort of Rauschen (now Svetlogorsk) in East Prussia. Hempfing, a graduate of the Karlsruhe Academy, is one of the most significant South German plein air painters of his generation. He exhibited his paintings in 1911–1914, notably in the Glass Palace in Munich, the Künstlerhaus in Vienna, and at the Great Art Exhibition in Berlin. Oil/hardboard.
