Female actress in boots: a cubist depiction

Alfred Kornberger

Female actress in boots: a cubist depiction
Description

(1933 in Vienna – 2002 there as well). A feminine semi-actress, depicted in a cubist manner, represents a standing model in boots and stockings, barely covered by a violet, flowing fabric. Kornberger completed his painting studies under Robin Christian Andersen at the Academy in Vienna before 1956. Since the 1960s, he has not only engaged with the Cubism and Surrealism of Picasso and Braque, but also approached the surrealist, metaphysical painting of Giorgio de Chirico. However, abstract tendencies only briefly leave their mark on his work. By the late 1960s, he places the human figure, especially the female nude, at the center of his creativity, thus integrating himself into the great Austrian tradition of figurative art, from Egon Schiele to Alfred Hrdlicka. For Kornberger, color is the most important factor in the expression of painting and serves as an emotional factor of expressiveness. Oil pastel and pencil on yellowish watercolor paper. Signed. 66 cm x 50 cm. Framed.
