Born in Dessau in 1940 and based in Düsseldorf, "WS III Ed" is an original work by a renowned and acclaimed artist known as one of the most significant representatives of German minimalism. Imi Knoebel (real name Klaus Wolf Knoebel) initially attended courses in structural and constructive design at the School of Applied Arts in Darmstadt before transferring to the Düsseldorf Academy in 1964, where he first studied under Arno Breker and then under Joseph Beuys. His creative legacy is characterized by an analytical exploration of the interaction between form, color, material, and space. The execution of his works is precise, clear, and consistently minimalist. "WS III Ed" is acrylic on layered plastic strips/panels, created between 2009 and 2012. There is a label on the reverse indicating the date and number. This particular piece is the fifth out of five, with each work being unique.
