A beautiful, typical work by this versatile artist, who worked as a sculptor, draftsman, graphic artist, ceramist, and designer. Marx was a master at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1919 to 1925, where he was the artistic director of the Bauhaus ceramics workshop in Dornburg from 1920; from 1925 to 1933 he taught at the Burg Giebichenstein School of Art in Halle/S., and from 1945 to 1950 at the State School of Art in Hamburg.
