A rare snuff box for ground tobacco in the Louis XV style

Silver, gilded with wood inlays, lacquered with so-called Vernis Martin. Rectangular shape with slightly concave walls. Neat wave engravings on all surfaces. Edges are decorated with a floral ornament in relief. On the lid, a wood inlay depicting a mountainous landscape in reddish-brown color with golden lacquer on the river. The banks are adorned with Japanese cherry trees and pines. Minimal weight; markings, hallmarks, guarantee mark from 1838 and an indistinguishable workshop mark "DL" (?). Weight approximately 65 g.
