

Silver, gilded with wood inlays, lacquered with so-called Vernis Martin. Rectangular shape with slightly concave walls. Neat wave engravings on all surfaces. Edges are decorated with a floral ornament in relief. On the lid, a wood inlay depicting a mountainous landscape in reddish-brown color with golden lacquer on the river. The banks are adorned with Japanese cherry trees and pines. Minimal weight; markings, hallmarks, guarantee mark from 1838 and an indistinguishable workshop mark "DL" (?). Weight approximately 65 g. Height 1.3 cm. Dimensions 6.6 cm x 4 cm. Compare with Rosenberg, volume IV, numbers 5893, 6579, 6593. A rare French tobacco box in Louis XV style, gilded and featuring Japanese lacquer. Minor dents.
