Russian silver egg with gilding

In the style of Carl Fabergé, this item is crafted from silver, partially gilded, and enameled. It takes the form of a tube with a relief leaf frieze on a round nephrite base. The oval, blue enameled and wavy guilloché segmented body is adorned with rich, intricate appliqués featuring a cornucopia, flowers, twisted "C" scrolls, and volutes. The finial is a fully sculpted, crowned double-headed eagle with an applied ornament of relief volutes, partially decorated with rose-cut diamonds. Inside, there is a miniature naturalistically rendered elephant crafted from partially gilded silver, embellished with a ruby cabochon against a green-and-black striped nephrite background. Created in 1888, it weighs 480 grams and stands 16.5 centimeters tall. This Russian silver egg with gilding and enamelwork represents the style of Carl Fabergé.
