Description

Silver, enameled. On a flat base, a cylindrical body with a hinged lid. The surface is decorated with delicate multicolored flowers on a transparent, silvery-gray enameled background with a wavy guilloché pattern. The lid is engraved with the monogram "FJ" under the Archducal Crown of Franz Joseph of Austria-Tuscany and Archduke of Austria (1905-1975). Signed, marked, mainly by the master Johann Suval (active around 1915). The interior is gilded. Weight approximately 25 g. Height 3.4 cm, diameter 2.6 cm. See photo of the hallmark in the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), Vienna, inventory number PZ 6552. Provenance: from a private collection in Brandenburg. Acquired at auction at Dorotheum in Vienna on 26.04.2006, Kaiserhaus auction, lot 201. Very fine small silver enameled box with the monogram of Franz Joseph of Austria-Tuscany and Archduke of Austria (1905-1975) by Johann Suval (circa 1915). Gilded interior. Assay and maker's marks.
