Description

In the original, gilt leather-covered wooden case. Silver. Oblong oval form, convex spoon transitioning into a flat, widely expanding handle. The handle and the lower part of the spoon are adorned with Rococo-style elements with curved lines. The interior of the case is lined with pink silk. Marking, tremulous stroke, standard, preceding letter "C", master Johann Nicolaus Wollenberg (master since 1759). Weight approximately 225 g. Spoon length 20.5 cm. Case height 4.5 cm. Dimensions 21.3 cm x 12.5 cm. See Germanisches Nationalmuseum catalogue, volume I, part 1, MZ 991, BZ 41, WB 06c. Another spoon by the master is held, among others, by the Historical Museum in Basel, see also volume I, part 2, illustrations 726 and 706 (case). A rare set of six Nuremberg silver spoons in the Rococo style by master Johann Nicolaus Wollenberg (master since 1759) in the original leather-covered wooden case. Marking, assay and maker's mark, date letter "C". Nuremberg, 1775-1779.
