Description

In the original wooden case covered with gilded leather. Silver. Elongated oval shape, convex spoon, transitioning into a flat, strongly widening handle. The handle and the lower part of the spoon are decorated with rococo-style elements with curved lines. The inner side of the case is lined with pink silk. Marked, trembling stroke, indicator, preceding letter "C", master Johann Nikolaus Wollenberg (master since 1759). Weight about 225 g. Spoon length 20.5 cm. Case height 4.5 cm. Dimensions 21.3 cm x 12.5 cm. See the catalog of the German National Museum, volume I, part 1, MZ 991, BZ 41, VB 06c. Another spoon by the master is, among others, in the Historical Museum in Basel; see also volume I, part 2, illustrations 726 and 706 (case). Rare set of six Nuremberg silver rococo spoons by master Johann Nikolaus Wollenberg (master since 1759) in the original leather wooden case. Marked, assay and workshop mark, date letter "C". Nuremberg, 1775–1779.
