

Rare antique salad bowl serving box from the Imperial Russian Porcelain Factory of M. S. Kuznetsov, circa 1870. Shaped as a grape cluster with leaves. Marked on the reverse with blue underglaze stamp: M. S. Kuznetsov Factory in Riga. The Riga Porcelain and Faience Factory was originally a branch of the Kuznetsov Family Partnership, the largest Russian enterprise for producing porcelain, faience, and majolica, whose industrial center was located in Riga. The factory has been operating since the early 19th century. It successfully continued its work during the interwar period in Latvia and during the Soviet era, when it became one of the largest state-owned porcelain manufacturers.
