Description

A PAIR OF HAND-PAINTED PORCELAIN PLATES FROM THE RUSSIAN KUZNETSOV FACTORY, RIGA, 19TH CENTURY, featuring hand-painted images of medieval Russian nobility along the central image and the edge of each plate, as well as delicate gilded ornamentation, diameter of each plate: 31.2 cm (12 ¼ inches), green factory mark with imperial warranty sign on the underside of each plate, each plate also inscribed with '824'. PROVENANCE: Sotheby's, April 14, 1994, lot 71.
