Description

A four-pass rococo-style curved form with carved handles. Relief decoration with shells and foliage. The flat mirror features a wide profile with trees, reflecting the harbor of Venice. Rococo couples and figural characters stand before merchant ships and majestic palazzo architecture. Based on copper engravings by Melchior Küsel after J.W. Baur. The rim is adorned with Indian flower branches. Polychrome painting with rich gold details. Previously attributed to Andreas Schiefer. Sword mark on an unenameled base. Dimensions: 29 cm x 25 cm. A porcelain tray with a masterfully painted view of Venice after M. Küsel. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1735-1739.
