Description

On a flat rectangular pedestal stands a mustached Ottoman janissary in an oriental, exquisite yellow fur coat with purple underwear, white loose trousers, and yellow boots. His dark hair is covered with a striped turban. In his right hand, he holds a banner, while his left hand rests on his hip. Polychrome painting. Possibly made by Johann Friedrich Eberlein, circa 1743. Minor restoration intervention; crossed swords mark. Height 16.5 cm.
