Rare Baroque cutlery with a floral pattern.
Description

Silver, gilding, and porcelain. 16 pieces: 8 knives and 8 forks. Baluster shape, delicately relief-molded porcelain handles with a terminal knob. The handle is decorated on the front and back with elegant floral compositions, scattered flowers, and depictions of fruit in fine polychrome painting. Forks with three tines and knives with conical curved blades made of gilded silver. Partially marked with 12-lot assay mark, stick mark, and maker’s mark, mostly by Johann Benjamin Langenwagen (active circa 1750), Dutch tax mark from 1909. Length: 20.5 cm - 22 cm. Rare 16-piece German Baroque cutlery set with porcelain handles and gilded silver mounts by Johann Benjamin Langenwagen (active circa 1750).
