On a high, raised, glazed round base stands a bust of Hippocrates of Kos, the ancient Greek physician, made of biscuit porcelain. Its authorship is attributed to Karl Gottlieb Schubert, who created the model in five different sizes around 1781. On the back, there is an inscription with the name, as well as an imprint of a horse jumping over the letter "W", denoting the former Johann Heinrich Wegener (active from 1758 to 1798), and the number 4 (indicating the size). There is a firing crack and damage. Collection; manufacturer's mark engraved with "S". Height: 27 cm. See Ducret, Fürstenberger, vol. III, p. 239 and following, and p. 269. Large biscuit porcelain bust of Hippocrates on a glazed base. Firing crack. Chips. Manufacturer's mark: Fürstenberg. Circa 1781.
