On a three-tiered pedestal is an image of the dancer Ruth St. Denis in mid-step, with an exposed midriff, dressed in an oriental costume, performing her dance "Radha" ("The Dance of the Five Senses," premiered in 1906). Behind her on the pedestal are two baskets of roses. Polychrome underglaze painting. Model No. 3992, designed around 1911/1912. Condition: with minor glaze chips. Marking: "Roze", manufacturer's mark with the inscription "Made in Austria"; small impressed mark with an illegible monogram. Height 53.5 cm. The famous American dancer Ruth St. Denis (1879-1968) performed her "Radha" during her European tour of 1906-1909 with great success, including in Paris, Berlin, and Vienna.
