    In the central part is an image of a bell, with the word CHORNOBYL inscribed on its crown. Below the bell is a ribbon with the inscription 1986-1996. In the background are cranes in flight: three to the left and two to the right of the bell. At the top, around the coin's circumference, is the inscription: TRAGEDY FEAT ATTENTION. The words in the inscription are separated from each other and from the ribbon by dots.

    In the central part of a circle formed by dots is the image of the small State Emblem of Ukraine framed by viburnum branches. Above the emblem is the date 1996 — the year of coin minting. Around the coin's circumference are inscriptions: at the top UKRAINE, at the bottom in two lines 200,000 KARBOVANTSIV.
