    The Small State Emblem of Ukraine and the inscription along the arc of the coin's edge NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE; in the center, within an octagonal cartouche on a shield, is depicted the emblem of the National Bank of Ukraine – allegorical figures of griffins, between which is a hryvnia – the monetary and weight unit of Ancient Rus. This emblem symbolizes the protection and augmentation of the state's gold reserves. Furthermore, the obverse features the coin's denomination, year of minting, and the designation of the metal, its fineness, and weight in pure metal.
