    The small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine and the inscription along the upper edge of the coin NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE; in the center, within an octagonal cartouche on a shield, is depicted the emblem of the National Bank of Ukraine – allegorical figures of griffins flanking a hryvnia – the monetary and weight unit of Ancient Rus. This emblem symbolizes the protection and augmentation of the state's gold reserves. Furthermore, the obverse bears the coin's denomination, year of minting, and the designation of the metal, its fineness, and weight in pure metal.
